How to choose an arbitrator

Rules of the CenterAsk the Secretariat
  1. Check the specialisation

    Look for someone who has already handled disputes of your type: contracting, subsoil, corporate conflict, supply.

  2. Check the language

    The proceedings are conducted in a language the panel speaks. If the contract involves a foreign party, you need an arbitrator with English.

  3. Agree with the other party

    In a sole arbitrator proceeding, the parties choose one arbitrator. In a panel proceeding, each party chooses one arbitrator, and the selected arbitrators appoint the chairperson.

  4. Notify the Secretariat

    The arbitrator’s candidate is indicated in the statement of claim or in a separate letter, after which the Secretariat checks for any conflicts of interest.
